QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Kentucky Certificate with endorsements in teaching areas.
2. Such additional qualifications as the Superintendent and/or Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

SUPERVISES: N/A

JOB GOALS: To develop in each pupil an understanding of the benefits of exercise and a motivation to cultivate individual physical achievement, and to develop strength, skill, agility, coordination, flexibility, and poise in individual, dual, and team activities and sports, in accordance with each pupil’s ability.

Responsibilities Specific to Teaching Area:

A. Teaches knowledge and skills in physical fitness, health education, rhythms and dance, and individual, dual, or team sports.
B. Works cooperatively with other physical education teachers in the district in planning a balanced physical education program.
C. Analyzes, demonstrates, and explains basic skills, knowledge, and strategies of formal sports, games, rhythms, and fundamentals of body movement.
D. Provides individual and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each pupil, to the extent feasible.
E. Coaches athletic team/s.
F. Provides appropriate safety instruction and makes safety checks on equipment and field areas to ensure the overall safety of pupils.
G. Maintains control of the inventory, storage, and use of school-owned property.
H. Identifies pupil needs and cooperates with other professional staff members in helping pupils solve health, attitude, and learning problems.
I. Performs such other professional tasks (within reason) as may be assigned by the principal or Superintendent.


TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Salary and work year to be established by the superintendent and the Board.

EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on Evaluation of Professional Personnel.
